About Me

In the last thirty-five years my wife Sherry and I have lived in four different homes in the First Congressional District: two in Albuquerque, one in the rural South Valley, and our present one in Corrales. We’ve raised two sons here. ┬áIn 1988, I started NumerEx, a small business that does computer modeling of high energy pulsed power experiments, where Sherry and I continue to work today.

My roots go deep in this enchanted land. My mother moved to Roswell with her family and graduated from Roswell High about seventy-five years ago. She and my father met at Walker Air Force Base during World War II, where he went for bomber pilot training. After the war was over and he had flown 35 missions over Europe they were married.

I was born in Dad’s home town of Quincy, Illinois, but we moved back to Roswell when I was five. When I was ten, I moved to El Paso, Texas where I went to high school. I went to college at New Mexico State, where I met my wife, Sherry Donohoe of Albuquerque, and where I earned a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Mathematics. We went East for a few years, while I completed a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at M.I.T.; then we moved back to New Mexico.
